On 10 April 2024, the 10th meeting of the Working Group on Working with the Universal Postal Union under the RCC Commission on Postal Communications and the RCC Postal Operators Board (WG-UPU) was held in the format of a videoconference.
The meeting was chaired by Natalia Gordeyenko, Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus, Chairperson of the RCC Commission on Postal Communications, who also acts as Chairperson of the WG-UPU.
Alexei Borodin, Director General of the RCC, made a welcoming speech to the participants of the meeting. In his speech, he informed the meeting about his forthcoming meeting with Masahiko Metoki, Director General of the International Bureau of the Universal Postal Union and wished all the participants of the meeting constructive and fruitful work and success in implementing the plans outlined.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the communications administrations of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, full members of the RCC Postal Operators Board - Haypost, Belpochta, Kyrgyz Pochtasy, Russian Post, Pochtai Tojik, Uzbekiston Pochtasy - as well as representatives of the RCC Executive Committee.
The meeting reviewed the results of the UPU Postal Operators Board and UPU Council of Administration sessions held in autumn 2023 and discussed the preparation of the RCC CAs for the spring session of the UPU Postal Operations Council and the UPU Council of Administration (22 April-3 May 2024). As part of the discussion on preparations for the upcoming session, the issue of forming the composition of the RCC delegation to attend the session was also considered.
The basis for the discussion of ongoing activities and their prospects within the UPU Postal Operations Council and the UPU Council of Administration was a presentation by Olga Zhitnikova, deputy chair of the WG-UPU, head of international relations at the Department for Support of International Activities of JSC Russian Post.
In addition, during the meeting its participants managed to formulate a pool of topics and issues for a meeting between the RCC Director General and the UPU Director General.
At the end of the meeting, the Chair of the WG-UPU thanked the RCC Executive Committee for preparing and holding the meeting at a high level and all participants for their active work.
