On February 8, 2024, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergei Lebedev.

Sergei Lebedev congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on his convincing victory in the elections.

The Head of State expressed gratitude to Sergei Lebedev and all members of the CIS observation mission for observing these elections. He stressed that the CIS observation mission was actively involved in monitoring the current and previous elections in Azerbaijan.

During the conversation, issues of cooperation between the relevant structures of the CIS and Azerbaijan were touched upon, views were exchanged on Azerbaijan's contribution to relations and discussions within the CIS, cooperation projects between the CIS countries in political, cultural, economic and other spheres.
