On February 2, 2024, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Bakytzhan Sagintayev spoke at the plenary session of the annual Digital Almaty 2024 Forum in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan).

According to the head of the EEC Board, digitalization and new technologies open up huge opportunities to improve productivity, optimize business processes, and also lead to the emergence of modern business models and, in general, to increase their efficiency.

Currently, the EEC, together with the EEC countries, ensures the functioning of the integrated information system of the Eurasian Economic Union. Cooperation in the B2B and B2G formats has been established within the framework of the cross-border trust space. Work is also underway to ensure cross-border B2B interaction.

The Declaration on the Further Development of Economic Processes within the Framework of the EAEU until 2030 and for the Period up to 2045, the Eurasian Economic Way, reflected provisions concerning the creation of conditions for online access to digital services for legal entities and individuals.

Bakytzhan Sagintayev also drew attention to the downside of digitalization – the increase in digital inequality, which, in turn, can affect the realization of four "freedoms": the barrier-free movement of goods, services, capital and labor.
