On January 22, 2024, the opening of the third meeting of the Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group (TSAG) took place in Geneva.

TSAG is intended to address coordination issues between study groups, enhance the electronic working methods of ITU-T, and provide guidance and procedures on relationships with other standardization bodies.

The meeting received welcoming remarks from ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin and ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau Director Seizo Onoe.

Also taking part in the meeting were ITU Deputy Secretary-General Tomas Lamanauskas, Director of the ITU Radiocommunication Bureau Mario Maniewicz and Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau Cosmas Zavazava.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the TSAG, Mr. Abdurahman Al Hasan (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). From the secretariat's side, the meeting was moderated by TSB Deputy Director Bilel Jamoussi.

The TSAG meeting was attended by ITU member countries, as well as observers, including representatives of regional and international organizations.

The Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) was represented by representatives of the Communications Administrations (CA): the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the leadership and staff of the RCC Executive Committee.

The RCC Coordinator made a presentation on the RCC's preparation for the ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2024, which will take place from 15 to 24 October 2024 in New Delhi, India.

The TSAG meeting also reviewed five contributions prepared by the communications administrations of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan in preparation for WTSA, which were reflected in the meeting’s output documents.

The next TSAG meeting will take place from July 29 to August 2, 2024.
