On January 23, 2024, at the office of the Regional Office of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the CIS countries, a meeting was held between the Director General of the Executive Committee of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of communications, Alexey Sergeevich Borodin, and the Director of the ITU Regional Office for the CIS countries, Natalya Vyacheslavovna Mochu.
During the meeting, current issues of cooperation in the interests of the countries that are part of the RCC and the ITU regional office for the CIS were discussed. The key areas touched upon during the meeting were:
- implementation of regional initiatives approved by the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC) 2022 for the period 2023-2025;
- holding joint RCC and ITU events in the countries of the region on regulatory and technical aspects of the development of the communications industry, as well as providing relevant technical assistance and expert support to the countries of the region;
- preparation of common proposals of the region for WTDC 2025 and holding ITU Regional Development Forums;
- formation of a regulatory framework for cooperation between the RCC and ITU in the field of implementation of projects within the framework of Regional initiatives approved by WTDC, in the interests of the countries of the region.
