14 December 2023 at the World Radio Conference-2023 (WRC-23) in Dubai under the theme "Celebrating the successful implementation of Resolution 559 - Restoration of Satellite Resources for Satellite Broadcasting Systems and Optimization of FM Radio Channels".

Through the implementation of Resolution 559, ATU and ITU helped to rehabilitate satellite resources that facilitate satellite broadcasting for 31 African countries.

The project, known as "Optimizing FM Radio Channels for Africa", was aimed at identifying new usable radio frequencies for FM sound radio broadcasting in order to promote and sustain FM radio in Africa in the future. As a result of this effort, a total of 18,326 new channels have been identified and found usable. This is an important milestone in the development of ICT in Africa, where FM radio continues to be a major source of information, education and entertainment.
