      Chaired by Gulamov Shohrukh Khasanovich, representative of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a meeting of the Commission on Economic Affairs at the CIS Economic Council was held. The Commission consists of plenipotentiaries of the CIS member states at the CIS Economic Council, as well as deputy chairmen of the Executive Committee - the CIS Executive Secretary with an advisory vote. The Commission provides a comprehensive study and consideration of draft documents prepared by the CIS Executive Committee and sectoral bodies of a socio-economic nature, as well as coordination of the positions of states.

      The agenda of the meeting included various issues related to the economic interaction of the Commonwealth states. Among them was the question submitted by the RCC “On the impact of the activities of the Universal Postal Union (postal sector) on the socio-economic development of states”. It was noted that the effective functioning of the postal sector requires appropriate regulatory and legal frameworks, an established procedure for licensing activities, a system of objective indicators for assessing the quality of services and a system for monitoring the status and development trends of the postal services market.

      Information on this issue, prepared by the RCC in conjunction with the CIS Executive Committee, was sent to inform interested ministries and departments in the Commonwealth countries.
