On July 2, 2023 in the conference hall of the city library named after Dovletmammet Azadi, the International Conference "Arkadag City - the City of Smart and Green Technologies" was held. The event, organized within the framework of the inauguration of the first stage of the "smart city" development by the Hakimlik of Arkadag City and the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, was held both in the traditional format and online thanks to the Communication Department of the new city.
The international forum brought together heads of agencies of the national transport and communications complex, foreign manufacturers of high-tech equipment, developers of advanced technologies and services, major international telecommunications and software operators, representatives of international organizations and structures.
The plenary session "Smart and Green Cities" as a guarantee of sustainable and efficient development of urban infrastructure" discussed the creation of stable, viable cities and a favorable for a comfortable life urban environment, promoting economic growth, ensuring the well-being of present and future generations.
The foreign participants present at the plenary session were: Nurudin Mukhitdinov, General-Director of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC); Tomica Paovich, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Turkmenistan; Mi Nuo, Director of Products and Solutions for Central Asia and the Caucasus Region of Huawei. Natalia Mochu, Director of the CIS regional office of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Ismail Aydin, Nokia Director for Turkmenistan, reported on the digital system.
The afternoon session on "Technologies and Solutions for Smart and Green Cities" was also held in a mixed format.
The sessions discussed such issues as assistance and influence of smart technologies on everyday life of citizens, sustainable architecture and urban planning, integration of renewable energy sources, smart mobility and transport, cybersecurity, etc.
The speakers noted that the global digitalization of economy requires from the management of enterprises, organizations and companies to pay special attention to the issues of accelerated mastering of specialists in innovative technologies, and ensuring cybersecurity. After all, the future of the communication sphere is directly connected to such concepts as Internet platforms, cloud services, transition to 5G, Big Data technologies, mobile finance, ways of content monetization, etc. The reports of the foreign experts on the new directions of development of information and communication technologies were heard.
There was an exchange of opinions on important issues of digital and "green" transformation for sustainable development. It was noted that modern technologies open up new opportunities for economic growth, management of public services, and have great potential to improve the management of natural resources. The speakers touched upon such issues as artificial intelligence, "green" logistics, "smart" parking, innovative services, etc. In this regard, the importance of studying foreign experience, intensifying international scientific exchange, close cooperation with specialized structures and international organizations that promote the incorporation of advanced technologies into production was emphasized.
At the end of the International Conference "City of Arkadag - City of Smart and Green Technologies" its participants accepted letters of gratitude addressed to President Serdar Berdymukhamedov, as well as the National Leader of the Turkmen Nation.
The following documents were signed at the conference: Memorandum of Cooperation between "Türkmenaragatnaşyk" Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and "NEC Communication and Information Technologies Ltd" Company; Memorandum of Cooperation between "Türkmenaragatnaşyk" Agency of Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and "DeltaTelecom" Company.
Foreign guests were impressed by the cultural program, which included guided tours of the Turkmen capital and the city of Arkadag, as well as a visit to the cultural and entertainment center "Gala".
