On June 29, 2023, with the participation of President Serdar Berdymukhamedov, large-scale celebrations were held in honor of the opening of Turkmenistan's first "smart" city Arkadag.

At the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan the General-Director of the Executive Committee of the RCC Nurudin Mukhitdinov and his Deputy Natalia Zorya took part in the celebrations.

The celebrations started with the opening of the monument "Akkhan". The monument captures the image of the legendary Akkhan horse, a magnificent representative of the famous Akhalteke breed. Akkhan is a world record holder, listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.

The State Flag of Turkmenistan was hoisted in a solemn atmosphere to the sounds of the national anthem of Turkmenistan. The opening ceremony of the "Arkadag" monument also took place during the festivities.

More than 300 objects were built during the first phase of the development of the city of Arkadag, including a stadium for 10 thousand seats, the State Drama Theatre, a hotel, equestrian circus, specialized schools, equestrian academy, children's health-rehabilitation center, etc.

Among the new buildings opened today are 258 apartment buildings of 2, 5, 7 and 9 floors. More than 40.5 thousand people will be able to live in them.

The apartment buildings are equipped with "smart home" systems that automate the operation of certain appliances and allow them to be remotely controlled via the Internet and monitor various indicators, such as temperature and humidity.

One of the most important components of the social infrastructure of the "smart" city is the Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov Children's Recreation and Rehabilitation Center,

The 350-bed multi-profile hospital, a 150-bed Oncology Center, a 150-bed Mother and Child Health Care Center, an ambulance center and a House of Health.

Cultural leisure of the residents of the new city of Arkadag will be provided by the State Gyorogly Horse Circus, Aman Gulmammedov State Drama Theatre, Museum of History and Local Lore, Azadi Dovletmammad Library.

Also, a multi-purpose sports complex, sports center and a stadium for 10 thousand seats were built in the city of state significance. The best conditions were created in the city for martial arts, soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis, athletics, weightlifting, water sports, etc.

During the construction of Turkmenistan's first "smart" city much attention was paid to environmental aspects and introduction of "green" technologies. Thanks to this, we have received more than 20 certificates and diplomas from various international organizations, including a certificate of adherence to the project "Development of Sustainable, Green, Climate Friendly Cities with Innovative Solutions in the Region" of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

On June 29, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov attended a concert by Turkmen art masters in the Central Park of Arkadag city, the "Watan" news program of Turkmen television reported.

The concert featured songs and vocal and choreographic numbers performed by artists and creative groups, demonstrating the diversity of genres and styles of Turkmen art.

A grandiose colorful firework and drone show were the main highlights of the evening.

At the end of the festivities, the President of the country bade a warm farewell to the participants.
