On 30 May 2023, at the initiative of the ITU Secretariat, a working meeting of the Executive Committee of the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) with the President of the ITU Council was held via videoconference.

The RCC General-Director Nurudin Mukhitdinov, Deputy General-Director of the RCC Executive Committee Natalia Zorya, Acting Deputy General Director of the RCC Executive Committee Andrey Saprygin and other specialists participated in the meeting on behalf of the RCC.

The ITU was represented by the Chairman of the ITU Council 2023 César Martínez and the Head of the Member Relations and Governance Beatrice Pluchon.

During the meeting the participants exchanged opinions on the preparation of the regular session of the ITU Council, on candidates for leadership positions in the ITU Council working groups and expert groups.

Also the working points of the ITU interaction with the regional organizations were discussed.

The RCC Executive Committee was asked about the possibility of participation in the ITU Council in July not only in person but also via videoconference.

The ITU Council Chairman confirmed that the possibility of remote participation in the ITU Council will be made available to the authorized representatives of the ITU Member-States.

The General Director of the RCC EC N. Mukhitdinov informed about the meetings of the RCC Working Bodies in May, such as:

- RCC Telecommunication and Infocommunication Operators Board (23 May 2023, Tashkent, Uzbekistan), which dealt with a block of questions on preparation of the RCC for the biggest international ITU forums;

- RCC Commission for the Regulation of the Usage of the Radio Frequency Spectrum and Satellite Orbits and its Working Bodies (22-26 May 2023, Almaty, Kazakhstan), which dealt with the preparation to the Radiocommunications Assembly and the World Radiocommunication Conference 2023.

General-Director of the RCC Executive Committee also informed his colleague about participation in GSMA M360 Eurasia 2023 conference in Baku, Azerbaijan on 16-17 May 2023 and holding of the 25th meeting of the Expert Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications on 18 May 2023 in Saint-Petersburg.

César Martínez, Chairman of the ITU Council 2023, expressed his sincere gratitude to the RCC Executive Committee for taking time to participate in the discussion.

The General-Director of the RCC Executive Committee, N. Mukhitdinov thanked Mr. Martinez and Ms. Plushon for their participation in today's discussion and expressed his hope for further fruitful cooperation.
