From 02 to 03 February 2022, the 4th meeting of the ATU Preparatory Group for the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-21) was held in the videoconferencing format.

More than 125 representatives of regional and international telecommunications organizations took part in the 4th meeting.

The meeting was attended by the RCC delegation, including representatives of the Communications Administrations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation, as well as the management and employees of the RCC Executive Committee.

The meeting was moderated by ATU representative Alice Koch.

The above meeting was opened and ATU Secretary General John Omo addressed with a welcoming speech. Also, Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau Dorin Bogdan-Martin, guest of honor from Tunisia Ahmed Gharbi delivered a welcoming speech.

At this meeting, ITU representatives Alex Wong, Sulyana Abdullah and Ann-Rachel Inne, ITU Regional Head for Africa, made presentations on Partner2Connect.

The agenda of the 4th meeting of the ATU Preparatory Group for WTDC-21 included the following issues:

1. Consideration of the 3rd APM (African Preparatory Meeting) ATU for the report on WTDC-21;
2. Marking relevant changes within ITU in preparation for WTDC-21;
3. Review of the preparation of regional telecommunications organizations for WTDC-21;
4. Seminar Now4WTDC;
5. Development and adoption of AFCPS by WTDC-21;
6. Review of the coordination process during WTDC-21;
7. Review of updated AFCPs on WTDC-21 issues and agenda items and further work on outstanding issues;
8. Consideration of nominations from African countries for positions in BDT (TSAG and WG1 and 2);
9. Consider the format/structure of WTDC-21 and accept the nominations of African countries for Conference Committees.

The meeting was chaired by Karim Luakil. Further, the participants moved on to discuss preparations for WTDC-21 within the framework of ITU and regional organizations. Reports on the preparation for the conference from APT, CEPT and CITEL were presented.

Arseniy Plossky reported to the meeting participants on the preparation of the RCC for the conference.

The ATU representative presented the draft general proposals of the organization to WTDC-21, approved at previous meetings. After that, the participants proceeded to discuss the proposals within the working groups.

At the end of the meeting, ATU Secretary General John Omo and Meeting Chairman Karim Luakil thanked the delegates and observers for their participation.
