January 24-28, 2022, via videoconference

From 24 to 28 January 2022, the 4th meeting of the Preparatory Group of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunication Community (APT) for WTDC-21 was held via videoconferencing.

The meeting was attended by over 120 delegates from Asian countries, international and regional organizations, including the RCC.

Representatives of the RCC CAs from the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, as well as employees of the RCC Executive Committee took part from the RCC.

At the opening of the meeting, APT Secretary General Masanori Kondo and Director of the Telecommunication Development Bureau Dorin Bogdan-Martin made welcoming speeches and announced that Rwanda was proposed as the venue for the World Telecommunication Development Conference.

Consultations on this matter are currently underway.

Ahmet Sharafat, head of the Preparatory Group, chaired the meeting. Additional contributions to WTDC-21 were presented from the Republic of Korea and India. Further, the participants moved on to discuss preparations for WTDC-21 within the framework of ITU and regional organizations. Reports on the preparation for the conference from CEPT and SITEL were presented.

Arseniy Plossky reported to the meeting participants on the preparation of the RCC for the conference.

The APT representative presented the draft general proposals of the organization to WTDC-21, approved at previous meetings. After that, the participants proceeded to discuss the proposals within the working groups.

The results of this work were presented at the final plenary meeting held on January 28, 2022. It also approved candidates from APT for the leadership positions of WTDC-21.

An extraordinary meeting of the Preparatory Group is scheduled for April 2022.
