The GSMA Mobile 360 Forum - Eurasia 2021 was held in Moscow on 14-15 September 2021.
The event was attended by representatives of regulators, telecom operators, equipment and mobile manufacturers, as well as the senior staff of the RCC Executive Committee.
The agenda included discussions on the opportunities of a data-driven society, as well as topics related to creative technologies and sustainable communications.
Speaking at the event, Alexander Torbakhov, CEO of Beeline Russia, insisted that the key challenge facing operators is maintaining and improving the user experience, noting that developing new services is not just about offering faster videos on YouTube. Hundreds of operators around the world offer 5G services, and he said it was "great to have videos on our smartphone" downloading in less than ten seconds compared to more than 30 seconds. "But it's not really going to change much and there won't be a big breakthrough like with LTE."
Huawei Eurasia President Daniel Zhou, ZTE Senior Vice President and CIS Regional President Mei Zhonghua discussed the changing nature of customer relationships in the months at the height of the Covid-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Pointing to examples of digital initiatives in the vendor's home market, he added that "in China and Russia we see a lot of similarities in terms of public policy and industry development." Zhou noted that the supplier's strategy in the Eurasian region is based on "building a digital community with a shared future".
MTS and GSMA executives stressed the growing importance of combining AI with big data to help customer management, calling on governments to detail guidelines for the ethical use of new technologies. MTS President and CEO Vyacheslav Nikolaev said that operators were generally very optimistic about working with partners to launch new services, as there was very little chance of getting the customer's attention with something new.
The event was a chance to discuss key initiatives of mobile operators, governments and international organizations in the region. The forum platform provided a venue for sharing experiences and knowledge on how the regulatory framework is driving the digital economy and innovation.
The organizers thanked the RCC Executive Committee for its participation in the GSMA Mobile 360 - Eurasia 2021 forum.
