The interregional meeting of the Telecommunication Standardization Sector of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) in the preparation for the ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2021 (WTSA-21) was held on 18 September 2020 in a format of a videoconference.

The above-mentioned meeting was opened by the Secretary of the Telecommunications Department of the Ministry of Communications of India, Anshu Prakash

Chae Sub Lee, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector, made a welcoming speech to the participants.

In his report, Chae Sub Lee confirmed that the ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly has been postponed to February 23 -  March 5, 2021.

Thanks to the videoformat of the event, the ITU-T meeting was attended by over 150 representatives from the communications field, including representatives of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications.

The following Representatives of the RCC Communications Administrations took part in the interregional meeting the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the leadership of the RCC Executive Committee.

The agenda of the meeting included reports on the preparation for WTSA-21 of the following ITU Regional Organizations::

- the Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT);

- Arab Group (Arab Region);

- African Telecommunication Union (ATU);

- European Conference of Postal and Communications Administrations (CEPT);

- The Inter-American Telecommunication Commission (CITEL).

- Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC);

Information on the preparation of the RCC General Proposals to the WTSA-21 was presented by the Chairman of the Working Group on the work with ITU at the Commission of International Cooperation, Chief Researcher of "FSUE" NIIR, Minkin Vladimir Markovich

At the closure of the Interregional Meeting of the Telecommunication Standardization Sector of the International Telecommunication Union in the preparation for the WTSA-21, the Director of the Standardization Sector, Mr.Chae Sub Lee, summed up the results of the event and thanked all the participants in the meeting for their constructive and fruitful work.

Simultaneously, the work in the ITU Regional Organizations on the preparation and holding of the Regional Preparatory Meetings for the ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2021 will continue.
