
Today, 23 April, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Regional Development Forum for the Commonwealth of Independent States (RDF-CIS), organized by ITU with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic, was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
Representatives of ITU Member States (RCC Member States were represented in full), Sector Members and other stakeholders participated in the RDF-CIS.
Azamat Zhamangulov, Minister of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic, who was later appointed as the Chairman of the Forum, opened the RDF-CIS.
Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava, Director of the ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, and Alexey Borodin, RCC Director General, made welcoming remarks to the participants.
The Forum included a round table “Digital Transformation and Development in the CIS: Trends, Opportunities, Challenges. Measuring Digital Development - Facts and Figures”, moderated by Alexey Borodin.
Participants discussed a wide range of issues related to digital transformation in the RCC/CIS countries, including key achievements, strategic priorities and challenges facing the region.
Dr. Eun-Joo Kim, Head of Projects, Partnerships and Digital Skills, ITU Telecommunication Development Bureau, provided an overview of key digital trends in the region, setting the context for further discussion.
Azamat Zhamangulov, Minister of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies of the Kyrgyz Republic, briefed the RFD-CIS participants on Kyrgyzstan's achievements in digital transformation, including the introduction of new digital services and regulatory systems.
Damir Seisembekov, Chairman of the Telecommunications Committee of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, shared Kazakhstan's achievements in introducing Artificial Intelligence technology into the public service delivery platform, and emphasized the importance of supporting AI startups.
Hakim Ismoilzod, First Deputy Director of the Agency of Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, spoke about Tajikistan's priorities in the development of digital economy and innovation for 2025 - 2030.
