
On March 12, 2025, Moscow hosted the opening of the XVI International Conference TransNet: Backbone Communications Networks.
The Conference is organized by ComNews Information Group and is supported by the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications (RCC).
Alexey Borodin, RCC Director General, addressed the Conference participants with a welcoming speech.
The Conference events started with a plenary discussion devoted to the prospects for the development of long-distance communication networks in the CIS. Alexey Ivashkin, Chairman of the RCC Telecommunications and Infocommunications Operators Board - Director General of Beltelecom, as well as representatives of the member companies and observers of the RCC TIOBI: Mobile TeleSystems, Rostelecom, Vimpelcom, MegaFon and Er-Telecom Holding took part in the event.
The Conference program is focused on key issues of development and optimization of Russian and foreign telecom infrastructure, maintenance of stable network operation, modernization of communication networks to meet new conditions, regulation of the traffic market, international cooperation, as well as interaction of operators with content providers, telecom equipment manufacturers, developers of hardware and software.
On the first day of the conference participants will also be expected to discuss topical issues of the industry development, in particular, sessions devoted to the role of information technologies in the development of telecom-infrastructure and barriers and drivers for the development of the market of optical cables and equipment for FOCL.
The tone of the second day of the Conference will be set by a panel discussion on the development of telecom infrastructure in the Arctic region, after which participants will discuss the role of CDNs, content providers and traffic exchange points in the backbone market and effective business models of cooperation between telecom operators and corporations and infrastructure companies for the development of network infrastructure.
The Conference program will also include a round table on commercial aspects of building server and telecommunications equipment at modern distribution sites and related network services.
